This Privacy Notice explains how we collect, use, share and protect your personal information when you visit our site, place an order, or otherwise communicate with us, and sets out the rights you have over your information. If there is a conflict between our Terms of Service and this Privacy Notice, this Privacy Notice takes precedence in relation to personal information.
For the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018, LA Retail Group LLC is the data controller of your personal information.

2. Personal Information We Collect
"Personal information" means information that identifies you or can reasonably be linked to you. It does not include anonymous or properly de-identified data.
Depending on how you use the Services, we may collect:
- Contact details — your name, billing address, delivery address, phone number and email address.
- Payment information — payment card details, form of payment, transaction details and payment confirmations. Card details are processed directly by our payment providers; we do not store full card numbers.
- Account information — username, password, preferences and settings.
- Order information — items you view, add to your basket or wishlist, purchase, return, exchange or cancel, and your order history.
- Communications — the content of messages you send us, including customer support enquiries, photographs submitted with a return or damage claim, and reviews.
- Device and technical information — IP address, browser type, device identifiers and network connection details.
- Usage information — how you navigate and interact with the site.
We do not collect special category data (such as health, religious or biometric data) and ask that you do not send it to us.
3. Where We Get It From
- Directly from you, when you create an account, place an order, or contact us.
- Automatically, through cookies and similar technologies when you use the site.
- From our service providers, where they process information on our behalf.
- From our partners, including payment providers and fraud prevention services.
4. How and Why We Use Your Information
Under UK data protection law we must have a lawful basis for each use of your personal information. The table below sets out what we do and why.
| What we use it for | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Processing and fulfilling your order, arranging delivery, handling returns, refunds and exchanges | Performance of a contract with you |
| Managing your account and responding to customer service enquiries | Performance of a contract; legitimate interests |
| Taking payment and preventing fraudulent transactions | Performance of a contract; legal obligation; legitimate interests in preventing fraud |
| Sending marketing emails about our products | Consent, or the soft opt-in where you have bought from us before and have not opted out |
| Showing you personalised advertising and measuring its effectiveness | Consent (given through our cookie banner) |
| Analysing how the site is used so we can improve it | Consent for non-essential analytics cookies; otherwise legitimate interests |
| Keeping records for tax, accounting and consumer law purposes | Legal obligation |
| Establishing, exercising or defending legal claims, including chargeback disputes | Legitimate interests |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have assessed that our interests do not override your rights and freedoms. You may object to this processing at any time — see Section 9.
5. Marketing
We will only send you marketing emails where you have consented, or where you have previously purchased from us and we are marketing similar products (the "soft opt-in" under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003).
You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email, or by emailing us. Opting out of marketing does not stop transactional messages such as order confirmations, dispatch notifications and refund confirmations.
6. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies. Strictly necessary cookies — those required for the basket, checkout and security — are set automatically. All other cookies, including analytics and advertising cookies, are only set where you have given consent through our cookie banner. You can change or withdraw your cookie preferences at any time via the cookie settings link on our site.
7. Who We Share It With
We share personal information with:
- Shopify, which hosts the Services and processes information about your use of them.
- Payment providers, to process your payment and screen for fraud.
- Fulfilment partners and carriers, so that your order can be picked, packed and delivered, and so returns can be processed.

- Professional advisers, regulators and law enforcement, where required to comply with a legal obligation, respond to valid legal process, or to establish or defend legal claims.
- A purchaser or successor, in connection with a merger, acquisition, restructuring or insolvency.
We do not sell your personal information.
Our relationship with Shopify
The Services are hosted by Shopify, which collects and processes information about your access to and use of the store in order to provide and improve the Services. Information you submit will be transmitted to Shopify and may be processed in countries other than the one you live in. We also use certain Shopify enhanced features that draw on data from your interactions with our store, other merchants and Shopify. For those features, Shopify acts as controller of your personal information and is responsible for responding to requests relating to that use. More information is available in the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy and through the Shopify Privacy Portal.
8. International Transfers
We are established in the United States, and some of our service providers are located outside the UK and European Economic Area. Your personal information will therefore be transferred outside the UK.
Where we transfer personal information out of the UK, we rely on one of the following safeguards:
- transfer to a country covered by UK adequacy regulations; or
- the International Data Transfer Agreement, or the UK Addendum to the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
You may request a copy of the relevant safeguard by contacting us.
9. Your Rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Access — obtain a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Rectification — have inaccurate or incomplete information corrected.
- Erasure — ask us to delete your personal information in certain circumstances.
- Restriction — ask us to limit how we use your information in certain circumstances.
- Portability — receive certain information in a machine-readable format, or have it transmitted to another controller.
- Object — object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to object at any time to processing for direct marketing, which we will always honour.
- Withdraw consent — where we rely on consent, withdraw it at any time. This does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
To exercise any of these rights, email info@style-room.co.uk. We will respond within one month. That period may be extended by up to two further months for complex requests, in which case we will tell you within the first month and explain why.
We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. You may use an authorised agent, but we will require proof of their authority. We will not treat you less favourably for exercising your rights.
10. How Long We Keep It
| Information | Retention period |
|---|---|
| Order and transaction records | 6 years from the end of the relevant financial year, to meet tax and accounting obligations |
| Account information | For as long as your account is active, then 12 months after your last interaction |
| Customer service correspondence | 3 years from the close of the enquiry |
| Marketing consent and opt-out records | Until you unsubscribe, plus 3 years to evidence compliance |
| Cookie and analytics data | Up to 26 months |
Where we no longer need your information, we delete it or anonymise it.
11. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information, including encryption in transit, access controls and vetted processors. No system is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please do not send sensitive information — such as full card numbers or passwords — to us by email.
If you hold an account, you are responsible for keeping your login details confidential.
12. Children
The Services are not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Third Party Sites
Our site may link to websites operated by others. We are not responsible for their privacy practices or content. Please review their own privacy notices before providing them with information.
14. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK supervisory authority for data protection:
Information Commissioner's Office Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF, United Kingdom Helpline: 0303 123 1113 Website: ico.org.uk
If you live in the European Economic Area, you may instead complain to your local data protection authority.
15. Changes to This Notice
We may update this Privacy Notice to reflect changes in our practices or for legal or operational reasons. We will post the updated version here and change the "Last updated" date. Where the changes are significant, we will notify you directly.
